Metaplanet’s recent Bitcoin purchases exceeded 2024 totals in under two months

Metaplanet has stepped up its Bitcoin acquisition strategy this year, purchasing more BTC in the last six weeks than it did throughout 2024.
Data from Bitcoin Treasuries shows that the firm, under the leadership of Simon Gerovich, acquired 2,290 BTC in eight transactions between March 3 and April 14. This aggressive buying streak averages around 51 BTC per day.
To put the fast-paced accumulation in context, Metaplanet bought 1,762 BTC in 2024, spending roughly $136 million.
That figure has already been eclipsed in 2025, with more aggressive purchases and higher spending reflecting a clear long-term strategy for the top crypto.
During the last six weeks, the largest single buy occurred on April 1, with the company scooping up 696 BTC. Conversely, the smallest transactions were 150 BTC each, completed on March 18 and 24.
Meanwhile, the most recent acquisition came on April 14, when Metaplanet secured 319 BTC for approximately ¥3.78 billion (around $26.3 million) at an average price of ¥11.85 million ($82,549) per coin.
However, the Gerovich-led firm has no intention of slowing down. Metaplanet is targeting a reserve of 10,000 BTC by the end of 2025, with a longer-term goal of holding 21,000 BTC by 2026.
Metaplanet currently holds 4,525 BTC, worth roughly $386.3 million.
